The new event plaza at Galena High School will feature secure fencing, a ticket booth, food and concession stands, and indoor restrooms. Once completed, it will create opportunities for the school to host major tournaments for athletes of all ages, as well as community events such as craft fairs and other gatherings. The plaza will also include a memorial tree and bench honoring all students who have passed away while attending Galena High School.

One of our dear friends has generously donated a one‑week vacation through the Marriott Vacation Club. The package includes up to $2,000 in airfare to any Marriott resort located in the United States, Mexico, or the Caribbean. The donor will assist you in arranging resort accommodations for up to six people, depending on the destination and availability. The total vacation package is valued at $7,000–$9,000, and it must be used by December 31, 2027. For the drawing, you will receive: 1 entry for every $100 contributed—for example, 5 entries for $500, 50 entries for $5,000. The event plaza has long been a major project goal and is designed to benefit all Galena High School sports programs—with the exception of soccer, which is located on the opposite side of campus. The district has officially approved naming the project The Ricky Woodring Event Plaza at Galena High School. To date, we have raised $172,000 toward the Event Plaza. As construction costs continue to rise each year, we are making a renewed effort to reach our goal of $250,000 so we can break ground. Much of the underground infrastructure— plumbing, electrical, and sewage—has already been completed.
Thank you for helping honor Ricky’s memory and supporting the next generation of Grizzlies. May God bless youand your families.
With love and appreciation,
Ron & Vickie Woodring
